Greek Orthodox Dancing Wedding Reception

Sofia and George were married at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Manchester, NH and planned a reception at the Hyatt Boston Harbor. It was great to experience this wedding up close as the photographers. These two THE perfect couple, so in their presence you just feel this warm and fuzzy feeling all the time. This wedding had a lot of anticipation surrounding it; we had originally met this couple in early 2012 for a Fall wedding (of that same year). As it turned out, they eventually found Spring 2013 worked out better and so we had to wait just a few more months to experience this amazing wedding.

The church, St. George in Manchester, NH, has a lot of character and we were able to create some interesting photos during the ceremony. The traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony allows for some great opportunities on its own, but on this day we had some fantastic light pouring in to the church through one of it’s many sky lights. As a wedding photographer, it’s always fun to try to keep up with the action as the light keeps changing; and by fun I mean incredibly frustrating until you nail the picture.

The reception at the Hyatt Boston Harbor went off without a hitch. It was a beautiful Spring evening with the view of the Boston skyline behind the tent. The guests danced the night away, money was thrown everywhere and there were more smiles than anyone could count. Sofia and George were gracious hosts and it was a pleasure to attend this wedding as their photographers. Please enjoy the photos below:

Tewksbury Country Club Wedding

Tewksbury, MA – Sevi and Steve planned a Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony at St. George’s in Lynn, MA; The Tewksbury Country Club was the scene for the wedding reception. You might remember this couple from their engagement session, or perhaps from the sneak peek we posted right after the wedding. Either way, we’re excited to show you some more images from their day.

We originally met Sevi + Steve way back in 2010 when we photographed their engagement session. They are such a sweet couple so we had a lot of anticipation for their wedding. Their friends and families were very open to letting us into the day, which really helps in creating those memorable, candid moment photographs.

The venues were wonderful. St. George’s in Lynn is a beautiful Greek Orthodox church for the ceremony. The lighting in this church is very useful for a wedding photographer. Their are some impressive windows letting in some beautiful natural light. The back light coming in behind the bride as she walked down the aisle was phenomenal. The reception was held at the Tewksbury Country Club and was very well done. Everything went off without a hitch, it really turned out to be a fun Summer wedding. As usual, we’d like to thank the bride and groom for inviting us to photograph the day. Congratulations to Sevi and Steve!

Indian Pond Country Club Photos

Last November, Shelley and Nick were married at St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Roslindale, MA. The church was lit only by candles and the late afternoon sunset coming through just one window. It was a phenomenal scene and it certainly made for some interesting photographs. The whole day was like that right from the start.  During the “getting ready”, Nick’s family, holding to Greek tradition, shaved him and dressed him while his mother and aunt’s sang traditional songs. The ceremony was full of dramatic light and powerful moments. During the bride and groom portraits, we were running out of light at the arboretum, which always gets a photographer’s heart rate up. And the reception at the Indian Pond CC was beautifully presented and full of Greek dancing and flying money. What a day! In the blink of an eye it was over, but we are so thankful we had the opportunity to make these images for Shelley and Nick. Congrats you two!

greek wedding photography

Christina and Tony were married in December at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn, MA. Their wedding reception was held at the Danversport Yacht Club. You might remember these two from their engagement session at the Boston Harbor. A perfectly amazing couple, Tony and Christina are very thoughtful and down to earth people so it was really a pleasure to work with them both.

Like most weddings, there was a lot of emotion on both sides which always makes for great images. The one we have chosen above, shows Christina’s beaming smile directed at Tony. Love it!

The church was very small and intimate, but Greek Orthodox ceremonies are very open to the photographer. And being able to stand right next to the groomsmen, I was able to capture a vantage point that wedding photographers are unable to achieve in other churches. The father was very receptive to us, and we appreciate that. The same goes for the Danversport Yacht Club. For one of the very first times ever, the wedding was running ahead of schedule. Usually it’s the opposite… The staff a the Danversport were very amenable to rescheduling things so there would not be too much of a wait for guests. And this was a wedding reception of over 250 guests, pretty remarkable. The reception was tons of fun, but when there is Greek dancing and money flying around in the air, it’s always fun.

Congratulations to Tony and Christina!
