Martha’s Vineyard Wedding

Days spent photographing a Martha’s Vineyard wedding is always fun. All in one day can have vintage cars, the ocean, a lighthouse, a beautifully bright church and an eyedropping tent reception. The island offers a unique wedding experience, and this particular event is a favorite.

EDGARTOWN LIGHT

The bride chose to prepare for her wedding in East Chop, which was very close to the lighthouse. The cute lawn and a hedgerow that worked perfectly for a portrait on a cloudy day. The groom got ready in Edgartown, MA. Each one provided ample space and light to create wonderful getting ready photographs as well as outdoor spaces to mix it up. Stopping by Edgartown Lighthouse before the ceremony was on the itinerary for the groom and groomsmen. The portrait of all the guys in the sand with the lighthouse in the background will certainly be a memorable photo for this couple.

OLD WHALING CHURCH CEREMONY

They chose to have their ceremony at the historic Old Whaling Church on Main St. in Edgartown. Built in 1843 by shipwrights for the islands whaling captains, this glorious church was built in the Greek Revival style. In the 1980s it was purchased and is now used for special events and community celebrations. The curved ceiling and unique mural on the rear wall transforms the space and gives the impression of a 3 dimensional room. The large windows allow in a lot of light, which is a wedding photographer’s dream.

FARM NECK RECEPTION

A Farm Neck reception is always a nice setting to start the party. Located in Oak Bluffs, MA, their spacious tent is the perfect canvas for the many talented wedding designers on the island. The grounds allow for some different photo opportunities, especially for this wedding we were able to spend some time with the antique Woodie. In between formalities we were able to sneak on the course for some moody portraits at dusk. The music was on fire so the dance floor was packed and the photos show the energy and movement that was all over this reception.
